Oshkosh FAQ

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about Oshkosh Chosen International Camporee. You can also download Beltsville's Oshkosh policies.

What are the dates for the camporee?

A complete schedule will be released soon but we will leave Beltsville on Monday, August 12, 2019 and return in the early-morning hours of August 19, 2019. The camporee runs from Tuesday - Sabbath.

How is Beltsville getting to Oshkosh?

We are renting travel coaches (busses) that will be driven by professional drivers. Our camping gear and luggage will be traveling in a 26-foot moving truck.

How much does Oshkosh cost?

We won't have an exact cost until closer to the event but a good estimate is $750 per Pathfinder. This includes Oshkosh entry ticket, transportation, food, insurance, club swag, and trading pins.

When can I buy my Oshkosh ticket?

We will begin selling the $200 Oshkosh entry ticket in February 2018.

Are tickets refundable?

No, Oshkosh tickets are not refundable but the tickets are fully transferable to another Pathfinder.

Why are tickets being sold so early?

Only 42,000 tickets are being sold for Pathfinders and staff in the North American Division. It is expected that they will sell out before the end of 2018. We are purchasing a block of tickets now before they sell out.

After I buy my ticket, when is the rest of the money due?

The remainder of your Oshkosh fees can be at one time or by the installment deadlines. A $300 payment is due by November 30, 2018 and the final payment must be paid by March 15, 2019.

Who is eligible to go to Oshkosh with the Broncos?

Only Pathfinders and staff who are active with the Broncos for the entire 2018-2019 Pathfinder year are eligible to attend with the Broncos.

My child will be going into 5th grade in August 2019. Can they attend Oshkosh with the Broncos?

Unfortunately, no. Taking Pathfinders halfway across the country for an entire week is no small task. We want our Pathfinders and staff to be able to develop a good relationship with each other during the year before Oshkosh so there are no challenges during Oshkosh.

I'm a parent - can I attend Oshkosh with my child?

Oshkosh is designed for Pathfinder clubs, not families. We follow the guidance of Potomac Conference and do not allow parents who are not Pathfinder staff to attend any Pathfinder event.

One reason for this policy is that history has shown that parents who are not serving as staff member with the club can be a disruptive force for a Pathfinder unit.

Another reason for this is the safety of your child. The North American Division mandates that all adults involved in Pathfinder ministry must pass a criminal background check and complete training in how to spot and report child abuse.

If you want to be part of your child's Oshkosh experience, the best way to do so is to ask about volunteer opportunities with the club as staff during the 2018-2019 Pathfinder year.
